No More!

It’s over. No trial separation. No counseling in the future. Twitter and I are official divorced. True, our relationship lasted less than a year, but I had no other choice.
…No, really. I had no choice.
Earlier this week some unscrupulously individuals got hold of my follower list and inundated it with…um…inappropriateness. :’/ Twitter’s response to my enquiry was, “We are aware of this problem and we hope to fix it sometime in the near future.”
Gee, great, but in the meantime my account has been savaged by an ultimate icky-ness and my little blue bird no longer has a future! (sigh) I just couldn’t leave it up. :(
To be honest, I’ve never really liked Twitter. It was one of those things that EVERYONE said I HAD to have in order to be an operational individual. But as time goes on (and on) I’m started to feel like I listen too much to what EVERYONE says I HAVE to do and not enough to the individual plan Jesus has for me. :)

Hm….
I think I need to add some fun to this post, since it is Friday. :) So here’s my LOL moment of the week.

I had a meeting with one of my clients this week. We said hello, shook hands, then he looked at me for a moment and said, “Do you always match your socks to your blouses?” LOL
I told him that I try! I didn’t really think I was doing anything particularly unusually, but then come to think of it I’m usually wearing brightly colored shirts so my sock tend to be bright as well. (I was wearing an oh-so-cute coral colored blouse and socks with calico shoes that had little coral colored flowers on them at that particular moment. ;)
I promptly added, “Hey, if you can’t have fun with your socks, what can you have fun with?”

So, my friends, have a great weekend, have fun with your socks, and look for the individual plan God has for you. :)

Hmm, here I've been considering Twitter because you hear so many references to it on the blogs. Glad to hear an opposing point of view. You are right, too many things to take our focus off Jesus.

I wish I could coordinate my socks! Unfortunately I have a dryer that eats a matched pair, so I have had to buy only boring old socks in sets.

Unfortunately, AFTER I had this problem I discovered other people have had it to. :(

Oh, the dryer! It's like it teleports those socks to another dimention! :P

I've never done Twitter and I tried Facebook for a few months then left it too. I really didn't like FB at all. It was like being in a noisy crowded room every time I visited my wall. My kids like it though.

Wow, that confirms to me that I am okay without Twitter. Thank you so much!

The fact that a man noticed your socks is what baffles me! My husband wouldn't notice if they were on fire! That is awesome!

I'm not a twitterer and I don't think i will be. this post scared me!

I'm not sure why I twitter because no one seems to be listening to my tweets. Some people get on there and can go back and forth all day, not me:( I think the world would work just fine without it:)
And I'm loving the sock story!

LOL! Colored socks = good times! I've never been a part of Twitter, but I don't feel an overwhelming urge to be. Maybe that's for the best!

Have a great weekend.

Uggh! That's awful about your twitter account. I don't blame you for canceling.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Love the sock story! :) I agree with you on the Twitter thing; had similar issues. Plus I don't have the time for it right now - would rather invest the time in my blog. Someday, when I have something more exciting going on in my life and when someone might care what's happening in my life minute to minute, Twitter style, I may reconsider!

BTW - If you win that writing contest, I do get a share of that chocolate since I told you about the contest, right? :D

Have a wonderful weekend,
Karen

I never got the twitter craze. Just don't have time. But, sorry about the mess with yours. Yuk! Loved the sock insight! :)

Hi Emily -

So far, I've resisted the Twitter trend. With Facebook and blogging, I barely have time to breath now.

Socks are a fashion statement. I won some really wild socks about a year ago, and wore them to a ladies' meeting. It was quite a conversation starter.

Blessings,
Susan :)

Cindy: It took me a while to get a hang of FB. I'm not sure I would have stuck to it if I didn't have friends I can only talk to through there.

Alica: LOL. Yeah, that took me by surpise too. ;) I guess you never can tell what will catch people's attention.

Lydia: I wish I had known what I was getting into before I started Twitter! :?

Kara: I never quite figured out how to talk back and forth on Twitter. :P

Shannon: Color socks are the best! Add cute shoes and the world is perfect. ;)

Jill: It was just frustrating. Especially, Twitter's response. I happen to think it's a little more serious than they made it seem. :? Have a great weekend too. :)

Karen: If I win we'll have to have a huge Chocolate lover's party and have Sees candy cater. LOL

Karen: I never had enough time to figure out Twitter either. I know some people who spend hours on it though. :P Hope your socks have a happen weekend!

Riv: Thanks! I definitely needed a hug...and some cute socks. ;) Thanks for stopping by.

Susan: Time is a huge factor in my dislike of Twitter. Blogger alone can take hours. ;)
Socks do have amazing powers over people. LOL

I am not a huge twitter fan also, but it seems to be a necessary evil. If mine freaked out like yours did, I'd high-tail it out of there too. :O)

I've been told that I should Twitter and Facebook as a means of raising my writer profile. But I can't just get into either. I looked at Twitter once and couldn't wait to get away. It's just not me. Facebook I use occasionally - usually when I want to announce something important (not like what I'm planning to cook for dinner!) to family and friends quickly. I like the way Cindy described it - it seems to fit.

All the friends that said they used FB and that it was a great way to stay in touch, don't contact me anymore through FB than they did via email or phone. And since they're not regular posters I still don't get to find out what's going on in their lives anymore than before.

Um, socks that match shirts. I'm sure you looked cute.

Diane: I just didn't see any other way to fix it. :(

Jules: There are a lot of pros and cons about social networking. Experts say authors should do it all. I tried and that just exhausted me. I think it's up to the induvidual to decide what works for them. :)

Now I don't feel so bad about Twitter! I have an account, but it intimidates me. Unfortunate what happened to your account, but now you're free!

Emily Ann Benedict said...

Lol, Julie, yes I do feel free now that I think about it. :)

I still haven't ventured into the world of Twitter. As for socks... Who doesn't have at least one pair of great socks? I love my "Camp Rock" socks that state "Follow Your Dreams!"

Emily Ann Benedict said...

M: Now those are some awesome sounding socks! ;)

I came here through Jill's blog. My wardrobe is basically black and so admire those that wear bright colours!
I've been struggling lately if social networking is only to fulfill my ego. I have a twitter account but rarely use it. That you know to let it go is great, I think!
You have a lot of great stuff going on here and I look forward to coming back.

Thanks so much for stopping by, Jill.
Knowing when to stop is hard and sometimes I need other people to help me. It's easy to get caught up in all social networking stuff out there.:P
I look forward to reading your blog too. :)
